Royal (or State) Farthings of James I, Charles I, and the Commonwealth

James I (24 March 1603 - 27 March 1625)
Harington

(See also Farthings of James I, Charles I, and the Commonwealth)

The Harington farthings are broken into three major types and are distinguished mainly by the positioning of the mint or privy mark. The first type has the mark on the obverse below the crown, between the scepters. The second type has it still on the obverse, but now it takes the place of the central jewel at the top of the crown. The third type (which is also distinguishable by the fact that it has 5 jewels rather than 9 on the crown on the reverse) has the mark on the reverse only.
