Royal (or State) Farthings of James I, Charles I, and the Commonwealth

James I (24 March 1603 - 27 March 1625)
Lennox Round

(See also Farthings of James I, Charles I, and the Commonwealth)

The Lennox Round farthings are broken into three main types, with the last type having a variant. The distinguishing features of the three types are the mintmark locations. The first has the mintmark on the reverse only and it is at the start of the legend. The second has the mintmark on the obverse and the reverse. On the reverse, it is now placed at the end of the legend. The third type has the mint or privy mark on the obverse only. This last type is divided into two variants, the first having 5 jewels on the crowns on the obverse and reverse, the second having 9.
