Probably S D was a collateral branch of the celebrated Drake family of this county, whose arms were argent, a wyvern, with wings displayed, gules.

This belongs to a gentleman of Bideford, who kindly lent it to the writer for description. In the "Visitation" book is a pedigree of the Ayre family, signed Arthur Ayre, spelt as by the issuer, but the arms described there do not correspond with those on the token.
