William Jordan was Mayor of Durham in 1666, and died during his mayoralty. He was a man of substance; by his will he left his brother, George Jordan, his "nigroe boy;" his loving friend, Alderman Thompson, his grey galloway; his wife, six silver spoons; to Alderman Hall, his sword and belt; to Mr. John Jefferson, counsellor-at-law, a 20s. piece of gold; and to Mr. Gabriel Jackson, a new beaver hat, etc.
